Painted Pony captures one of the paint horses that roam the foothills near Stoney Nakoda Nations, head down and grazing, completely at home in the landscape that shaped them.
These horses are one of my favourite sights on the drive out to the mountains. Their bold markings catch your eye from a distance and every time I see them, I want to pull over and watch them. They move through that landscape as if they grew right out of it, and in many ways, they did. This piece was painted to celebrate that belonging.
It is ideal for collectors who love Alberta's wide open foothills and the animals that call them home, who want a piece that feels warm, grounded and quietly joyful.
Original watercolour on 100% cotton cold-pressed paper, comes matted with a soft white single mat.
